    Default The New Stingray Aqua-40

Here is some info on this new reel.
Thats one of the items that this sport is missing, a reasonable priced reel for the elements (salt and sand).

    Default 666=a3

    JZ,

you know you must paint over those numbers or the big man may let that slide since you didn't name it,,,hahaaaa!

nice machine, mine is the same save the large power handle.
mine has the long double paddle, would prefer the other style power handle though.
good to see more pix on this thread,,anyone else?

    R-P

BTW,nice color coordination going on there!

I know about the number thing. that's funny. The 777 is a good thing and the 666, well....
I wonder if whomever numbered these reels, had ever heard about the good and evil thing.

I have some reservations about a China made reel. Even though everything is made in China now, including Van Staal, this company is not familiar to me. I would also appreciate hearing from someone who has tried this reel.

    Hi CT,

    FYI,this baby is just wonderful.
my wife loves it and I have fished it as well.
I can't say any bad words about it.
smooth as silk and it does what it's supposed to,fish and fish some more!
no one here try one yet?
buy one, fish it for 30 days and if you don't like it return it and get yer money back, add more money and go buy a shimano,,'er something.

This past weekend I sold a VS200 and a few other things and bought a Zee Bass ZX2-20.
Things I noticed right off the bat in differences with the Van Staal:
    - drag seems a lot smoother on the Z
    - line roller seems a lot more free (I had a VS line roller that was grooved from the braid)
    - turning the handle the reel seems smoother, not as tight as the VS reels. I think I remember when the Z's first came out they seemed unreal smooth and loose. The ones I have tried the past year they seem tighter, but still more smooth than the VS.

Will see how it holds up over the season, I throw it all over the beach and am always stumbling, playing in the wash and out on sand bars. The Van Staal was unreal reliable, perfect, never failed.

Sweet! Bet you can't wait to get a fish on it. I was out fishing today in the delaware and I think the striper bite might be a little delayed this year. Saw a pic of a keeper from stc but fom the guys I talked to no one is really knocking them dead yet. Good luck with that reel monty

Thank you, as soon as we get a week of warm weather and the temps are bearable I'll be out there bass or no bass. Can't wait to hit the beach.

    one of my heavy rigs.
shimano calcutta 700-b/quantum mocean surf stick 9 ft rated 1-4 oz but,the rating is wrong.you can feel it when you hold the rod.
I would say it is more like 3-8 oz.
the sweet spot seems to be from 4-6 oz.
it handles those weights wonderful,no overload at all.
