The water 'stains' on the surface of marble are often etching from acidic chemical reactions. There are special marble polishing compounds that you can buff the surface with to restore it. Marble is a beautiful stone that can be used for tabletops and countertops, but it can become easily stained because of its porous nature. You should always wipe up any spills from marble as soon as you see them, but if you miss one, don't worry! A marble stain does not have to be permanent.
Clean the marble with a soft sponge. Run the sponge under lukewarm water and squeeze out excess water until the sponge is barely damp. Rub the marble gently and dry it with a soft cloth.

If the marble is very dirty, you can use a small amount of borax when cleaning. When you're done wiping away the borax, you can rinse with lukewarm water.

To restore the shine of your marble countertops. First thoroughly clean the marble countertop with a suitable cleaning agent and wipe it dry. Use wax or sealer and fills in all the cracks and holes if any. Then get a nice granite and countertop polish from the market. There are several types of marble polish available in the market. Get one of them and start polishing it according to the instructions given in the user manual of the polish. Take proper precautions to ensure your safety and health.
