Default Pass it on contest 2: Union county NJ

I remember reading here in a post a few months ago that kids are participating less and less in fishing and hunting. That's a bummer, I remember as a kid whenever someone said "we're goin fishin" it was like I couldn't sleep the night before.

Fishin's an addiction for me. I take kids fishin a few times a year, but I could do better. Most of the time I fish at night, so it's not too practical, but I could definitely target more time to getting kids into fish.

So I thought I would help a few of the Dads who come here all the time and make this a fun place for me to hang, with this contest.

    Contest rules:

These places will all be ideal places for a Dad to take his kids fishing, and catch some fish, be it catfish, bass, sunnies, perch, etc.

I'll post a pic, once a week or so, of different parts of a spot you would only know if you fished or drove near there.

If you know the place, PM me with a guess. I won't give ya any clues if you're wrong, that would be too simple.

You can guess as much as ya want.

Don't post your guess in the thread. I ain't about makin it easy for a internet lurker, that wouldn't make sense.

Every week, Ill try to post another pic, another piece of the puzzle, to help ya's along.

First person to guess the place wins: 3 freshwater lures if ya guess it within the first week of the first pic being posted, 1 or2 if ya guess it anytime after.

I don't have much to give, but these lures will catch fish, and will help you to get your kid into fishing without worrying about if they will lose it or not.

At the end of 90 days, I'll post some more info about the place if it's available for public fishing. If it's too small, all I'll post is the pics, no description. Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Contest open to members with 25 posts or more.

This is a clean, popular, and easy to reach Union County pond. Trout stocked in season, and some largemouth bass to 1 1/2 lbs, panfish, and catfish.

OK, so I slacked off a bit, I'm lame! This place is EASY to guess, hundreds, maybe thousands, of cars pass by it every day. Cmon guys give it a shot!

3 lure giveaway still applies to this spot for the next week since it took me so long to put pics up.

We have a winner!!! C4Charlie guessed right!

The place is Seeley's pond, located right off 22 Westbound in Mountainside, NJ. Great place for a Dad to take the kids fishin, safe, and it holds fish throughout the year, even though sometimes it's only sunnies.

PM me your address, and I'll send some plugs out for the kids. Congrats, to me the pics were easy, maybe not so easy to others.

You were less than 3 miles from my house and did not stop by. You know I am home every day of the week, "working". I expect a call next time, stop by for lunch or dinner. Nice to take a break from all the crazy fishing and working.

Thanks Darkskies! I had my little guys guess by looking at the pictures and with a few hints, they got it right. One of the hints was that we have of pic of me and my oldest son when he was 2 years old at that pond holding a largemouth bass we caught. Don't think I will ever forget how we caught that fish. The week prior we were in Sports Authority getting some fishing stuff, my little guy decides that we definitely need to buy these flourescent lizards (soft plastic, of course). I honestly did not think those would ever work because of color and also thought they were a bit too big for the LMBs we have in that pond. How do you say no to a 2 year old, so I decide to buy them.

Well, the normal stuff was not working that day so the little guy suggested that we try the lizards. I rigged it up and we cast it out. On our first cast, we get a hookup and land the LMB on the lizard that I never thought would work. That is the one of the pics on his bedroom wall. He was 2 years old back then and he is going to be 5 this year. Now he catches bass on his own and has a little brother which he has trained to be a fisherman just like him.

Thanks again, hope you enjoyed my story.

Charlie, That's incredible story. Sometime kids have a sixth sense which we adults sometimes lack.

Too bad katie, you will have to try again next time dark puts up some pics.
