Default A little info about Ace Baits

Ace Baits: A long History serving Fishermen!!

Fishing Pool has over 25 years of experience in the world of lures and lure fishing. Beginning with our very well known traditional Gordon Griffiths Salmon baits to the latest Pike and Musky lures.
We offer a comprehensive range of fishing lures for predatory fresh and saltwater fish designed, manufactured and used by professional fisherman.

Lures produced with expert input from professionals based in Europe, Scandinavia and North America. Among our lures are traditional and the not so traditional, designs based on decades old patterns and some newer and "different".

Hailing from the UK, Ace Baits have been putting the hurt on Big European Pike for years, it's time for the Pike and Musky hunters here in the states to see what the big deal is all about!

The Original Ace Flipper baits fueled the interest and growth of lure fishing in the UK over the last decade, and have been on the leading edge of bait design and construction.

We've taken these years of experience and combined them with input from European lure building greats like Dave Scarff (Zimbabwe), P.A Hogberg (Sweden), Aad Dam (Holland), Kjelle Lundberg (Sweden), Jim McDonough (UK) and Ian Allen-Rowlandson (UK) to come up with a whole new series of baits aimed square at the mighty Muskie and Pike of North America. Plus we get imput from many field testers from around the world.

    Why Ace Baits?

    1. Almost all of the baits shown are constructed of good old wood with a few with added plastics! This, combined with the strategic placement of counter weights gives the floating-suspending baits a look and action that plastic baits just cannot match.

    2. All of the baits are finished with an ultra tough 2 part Envirotex or Steebar epoxy coat, over what are the best looking and most creative finishes available. Stainless hardware, and tough Eagle Claw Hooks round out the package.

Here's the beautiful thing; these baits are affordable, durable and damn fishy right out of the box!!!]

    Default Crankbaits

    Some tech and manufacturing info:

    CRANKBAITS

Our crank baits have a vane made from high quality aluminum this makes the lure wobble and dive. The angle, size and shape of the vane control the amount of wobble and depth to which the bait will dive. The diving depths quoted are using 100 yards of monofilament line at approximately 4 mph.

The lure production process starts with hand selecting each individual piece of wood for buoyancy, density, weight and grain structure. The type of wood used varies, depending on the characteristics needed for a particular lure.

This careful selection assures the desired action is achieved for every size and type of lure. All are two-pack epoxy coated for duarability.

    Default Glides

    GLIDE, JERK & PULL BAITS

Specialist lures suited to Pike, Muskie, Zander, Walleye and other predatory tooth fish. The action of these lures is mainly down to the weighting of the lure and the angler, this makes them very much a "hands on" range of lures which are great fun to use.

There are floating , slow sinking and sinking baits that are retrieved using sharp jerks, long slow sweeps and everything in-between.

New environed epoxy finishes and stainless steel screw eyes now make ACE lures some of the best finished baits around.

    Default Surface

    SURFACE BAITS

Lures which as the name suggests work on the water surface, usually with lots of fish attracting noise and movement.

They are retrieved with short sharp bursts, long slow retrieves or jerked along the top.

**Here's one of my favorites, I carry them with me almost every time I go out from late Spring to early Fall. Can be fished day OR night.

    Medic Super Spook pink/white belly
These things trigger explosive strikes from big bass and bluefish, even when fished at night. Best when used as the water warms up in mid-spring to early fall when there is a lot of bait around. It's also a good prospecting plug to toss first and see if there are any fish around an area.

    Default Softtails

    SOFTTAIL BAITS

Originally brought out as an alternative to a Bull Dawg. the designer was fed up of welding tails back on and throwing away chewed up baits.

This is one of our most successful baits now available in Small,Standard and New Magnum sizes.

Used mainly as a sink and draw bait it can be also jigged and slow trolled.

They feature a hardwood head replaceable soft plastic tail, belly treble and a large single tail hook. Sizes may seem big but they include the soft tail. This style bait has accounted for many large Pike up to 40lbs. All are sinking
