    Default what should the fine be?

    What do you think the fine should be for being caught with a short? IMO I think it should be steep the lower fines issued just don't seem to be enough of a deterrent.

    I agree, but the judges don't take a hard line on people who break game and fish laws.

    Jimbob is right about the judges. Many times they don't understand the significance of the violation. A member here tells me there is a commercial captain out of PP who has allegedly been caught more than once for being over his limit. I was told each time the judge has allowed him to plead guilty to reduced charges.

    I agree that higher penalties might be a deterrent, but I would rather see consistent enforcement, and for the people getting caught more than once to get severe penalties, no plea bargains.
