Default LI Fishing Reports - NJ Can S**K it!

    Short and sweet......

    1. Post your fishing reports here if ya want.....
    2. Be as specific as ya want....but remember the limited access....If you don't enjoy fishing next to 40 friends at night in a 400 foot section of beach, think before ya post.....
    3. Location - Out front, out back, or the county...further details on the first page of any past S&A monthly fishing reports.

Picked up my 2015 4-wheel-drive beach permit for RM and a few other locations.
    Looking forward to April.

Took a couple pics while there.

I'm always more optimistic when things happen in my family (regarding access to new fishing spots) than I realistically "should" be...
but I "may" be heading out to "LawngAisland" more this year, and if the planets align and God grants favor, I might actually be able to visit RM.

So, plan on following this thread, and perhaps ping out a few questions when the conjunction of 6 planets, a lunar eclipse, spectacular auroral displays and favorable winds all come together to allow me to FISH.

if possible, it'll be neat fish real surf again, after dealing with the flat, replenished and otherwise dead surf of my local beaches. the backbays are ok, but the surf zone itself .... argh!

I called Speedy the other night to find out the story on Nick from Luna.
We discussed you, and your exploits in LI so far....
Both came to the conclusion that you are a little

Dark, while this thread got a little off track, please change it to LI vs NJ, or something like that.
That plug is perfect for boat guys from NJ.

What is it with you guys and us who fish from boats? Why all the hate?
I got something sent to me in my facebook feed today. Thought you all who were fixated on bananas might enjoy it!

Is that a banana in your pocket, or have you just been bitten by a Brazilian wandering spider?
A British couple was horrified on Tuesday after they found a bunch of bananas they purchased from a Tesco store was infested with spiders they believe to be Brazilian wandering spiders, the Bristol Post reports. The bite of that spider can cause a host of unpleasant symptoms, including hours-long painful erections and death.

I wouldn't mind the hours long erection problems as long as you could manage the pain! I could save a ton off the rip off viagra prices.

....I just changed the thread title per Monty's request......
It appears this year he won't be battling with the MeatMen any more.....

He's chosen to take on ALL of NJ instead.....
There's an old saying.....be Careful what you wish for....because it just might come True...

(Please don't be too hard on Monty/Mr Montauk, folks.....the texts I've been getting from him lately show he's out of his mind....so let's try to take that into consideration before throwing jabs here.... )

Dude, just a question here, and no offense but what is so bad about jersey? We have creeks, cricks, tons of rivers, inlets, and miles of back bay sedges for great action because no one wants to do the walking. So why the hating on NJ spots? I hate the sand replenishment too and have read that in your posts. I get that. I wish someone could do something but there seems like no way to stop it. The beaches will one day be only for the rich that is what I think. There is nothing that can be done with the deep pockets and crooked politics. In the meantime we have tons of back bay areas that no other state has. How many rivers does LI have? I don't know the answer but I would bet a lot less than NJ. Hey I am not trying to start a flame war. Dark asked us to be nice so I will. NJ is so much more than the jetties to fish on. there's bridges, docks, ledges, etc. They can't ever take that away from us with corrupt politics. My .02 only

Jersey has everything, trout streams up north, ocean and bay beaches. Close to the city and didn't even mention south jersey.

Its also burying the beaches and rocks I love to fish. Its corruption at it finest, wrecking the eco structure year after year so certain people can steal our tax dollars. When other states are signing on to the one bass limit, jersey pushes for 2 and a bonus.
I have been all over the country and feel lucky to live in NJ (has so much to offer).
But as far as my fishing for bass and blues (my real passion), Long Island kicks jersey's @ss from cape may to the tip of the hook.
It also takes me about the same time to get to a LI beach as a NJ beach.

Thank you Dark for changing the title of the thread .

Also, thanks Bababooey for the spider info.

Not meaning to start a war here but it does feel like you are too good to fish NJ. I agree with everything else you said and think 90% of our politicians are corrupt but we have some great fishing in NJ!
How about the spring blitzes of the 40 lb bass in the surf? Granted I haven't been jumping in them because of the crowds but last time I checked I don't think they have blitzes in LI like that!
Last year we had some of the best bluefishing in Raritan bay that I have seen in my short fishing career. Did they have that in long island? Well maybe but I did not read about it anywhere so you would have to prove this statment to be true otherwise you're full of hooy!

Agreed not trying to start a fight with you either monty but I think last year the spring nj bluefishing was epic. I don't think anyone else had that quality of big fish from the surf. The heck with lawnguyland we have Jersey Pride!

For the record I did not pick the name of this thread....but
I would never think I am too good for Jersey. Sure I wish I lived on Long Island, but Jersey is my second favorite place.
When I fish its about enjoying my effort in trying to catch. I enjoyed fishing Robert Moses beaches a real lot last year. Then I think I made 12-15 or so night/morning trips out to Montauk and was in awe every trip of the beaches/structure. I have a couple north side beaches picked out for this year too.
I would never be found in the Jersey Death Squad throwing pencils at 40 pound bass, I have not and don't fish in crowded areas ever. I look and find uncrowded areas, now in LI, like I have done in Jersey.
As for catching on LI for me, my bluefish numbers were down, but I caught bluefish over 30 inches at least 5 different times, which is a lot for me. And was my best Striper year since 2011. I had a great time fishing last year. Was incredible fun exploring/fishing new water, can't wait to get out there again.
Heck, I used to trout fish the Flat Brook in north Jersey for many years then took a few trips to the Beaverkill River in the Catskills (at the end of my trout fishing days most of my trips were to the Catskills). Very similar comparison.

And the bottom line is that there are a lot more dead things on LI so I can kick Storminsteve's @ss again 2015.
