Default Is it an art or a science?

Do you consider fishing an art or a science?

I consider it more of science with a little art. I watch the tides, study the water, moon phases, currents and watch others carefully.

If it was a science, all you would have to do is study the book and get all A's There are a lot of variables involved which make it harder. I think the best fishermen are like witch doctors, they go with what they know and hope for a little luck as well.

That is an interesting question, I think it is art that uses science as a medium.

I think the following make a good surfcaster:
    Experience
    Knowledge
    Technique
    Skill
    Effort

Art = any field using the skills or techniques of art.
Science = knowledge, as of facts or principles; knowledge gained by systematic study.

Successful surf fishing needs to be a combo of the two.
Seeing me fish will never be described as art…and as for science………
