I don't understand the guys who don't fish because they hear that there are "only small fish around". I go out because I love the sport. It does not matter what size I catch. besides why else do they make small lures?

Only hunting for big fish limits the days or nights you can go out. The schoolies are the first to show up and the last to leave. Turn your nose down at them and you have a very short season.
Have either of you guys been out? Just curiousif it has been worth trying. I have never fished this late in the year before.
Bass season closed for us in LI on Dec 15. You can still hit some warm water outflow places if you want to catch and release runts. The most action now from the surf or a pier is the herring fishing, and that's been hit or miss so far.
I have as much fun catching small fish as I do catching big fish, of course I would rather catch big fish. I believe that if there are bass around there could be big ones also. Fish all the time, you never know.
