Default Baby seal in fishing net

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Wildlife rescuers are worried about a baby seal that showed up on a beach tightly ensnared in a fish net, 10News reported.

The seal was born recently in the children's pool in La Jolla, which is one reason some people are reluctant to try to help.

The children's pool, also known as the Casa, is a small beach partially protected by a seawall. The original intention was to create a fully protected swimming area, but sand has filled in much of the area inside the wall and a colony of seals now.

Two days ago the seal was seen on the beach entangled in a fishing net.

    Seals are federally protected mammals.

SeaWorld does have permission to save marine creatures, but could not go onto the beach without interfering with the other seals, thus unable to help this baby seal. Federal law requires a person to stay so many feet away from them.

If you guys in Cali need more seals, maybe you will take some of the ones that have infested NJ, NY, and Mass waters off our hands. Not a week goes by that I don't see a seal head pop up somewhere.
