    Default skipping baits

I want to learn a little more about skipping baits. Has anyone done this?

Is it the skipping which creates the appearance of bait being in the water? Why would it not scare the fish down?

I have but usually on accident. I would assume that is for the reaction strike or just getting fish to notice the splashing. If the fish aren't actively feeding then it may just scare them off.
