Default Once again anti American

THIS MOST UNBELIEVABLE PRESIDENT?
HERE IS HIS RESPONSE WHEN HE BACKED OFF FROM HIS DECISION TO REQUIRE THE MILITARY PAY FOR THEIR WAR INJURIES.

Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty. The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.

"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. Theyhad to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit..I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."

REMEMBER THIS STATEMENT.... "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice?"

He's critical of the soldiers and the sacrifices they make. He just fired his appointed general for "poor judgement". What about his decision to make the soldiers pay for their benefits?

All the members of Congress get free benefits, and for life.
What do we as citizens get for out health care, nothing even close to what he and his congressional cronies get. How is that fair. How can Obama be fired, he can't. He can only be impeached and that will never happen. What a hypocrate.

McChrystal out; Petraeus picked for Afghanistan

AP – President Barack Obama, followed by Gen. David Petraeus, walks to the Rose Garden of the White House …

By JENNIFER LOVEN and ANNE GEARAN, Associated Press Writers Jennifer Loven And Anne Gearan, Associated Press Writers – 3 mins ago
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama sacked his loose-lipped Afghanistan commander Wednesday, a seismic shift for the military order in wartime, and chose the familiar, admired — and tightly disciplined — Gen. David Petraeus to replace him. Petraeus, architect of the Iraq war turnaround, was once again to take hands-on leadership of a troubled war effort.

Obama said bluntly that Gen. Stanley McChrystal's scornful remarks about administration officials represent conduct that "undermines the civilian control of the military that is at the core of our democratic system."

He fired the commander after summoning him from Afghanistan for a face to face meeting in the Oval Office and named Petraeus, the Central Command chief who was McChrystal's direct boss, to step in. Obama had offered the job to Petraeus during a private White House meeting earlier Wednesday, said a senior military official.
In a statement expressing praise for McChrystal yet certainty he had to go, Obama said he did not make the decision over any disagreement in policy or "out of any sense of personal insult." Flanked by Vice President Joe Biden, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in the Rose Garden, he said: "War is bigger than any one man or woman, whether a private, a general, or a president."
He urged the Senate to confirm Petraeus swiftly and emphasized the Afghanistan strategy he announced in December was not shifting with McChrystal's departure.
"This is a change in personnel but it is not a change in policy," Obama said.
Indeed, as Obama was speaking, McChrystal released a statement saying that he resigned out of "a desire to see the mission succeed."
"I strongly support the president's strategy in Afghanistan," McChrystal said.
Obama hit several grace notes about McChrystal and his service after their Oval Office meeting, saying that he made the decision to sack him "with considerable regret." And yet, he said the job in Afghanistan cannot be done now under McChrystal's leadership, asserting that the critical remarks from the general and his inner circle in the Rolling Stone magazine article displayed conduct that doesn't live up to the standards for a command-level officer.
"I welcome debate among my team, but I won't tolerate division," Obama said.
The announcement came during what is on pace to be the deadliest month for the U.S.-dominated international coalition in Afghanistan. NATO announced eight more international troop deaths Wednesday for a total of 75 this month — matching the toll of the deadliest month of the nine-year-long war, in July 2009. Forty-five of those killed this month were Americans. The U.S. has 90,800 troops in Afghanistan.
Obama seemed to suggest that McChrystal's military career is over, saying the nation should be grateful "for his remarkable career in uniform" as if that has drawn to a close.
McChrystal left the White House after the meeting and returned to his military quarters at Washington's Fort McNair. A senior military official said there is no immediate decision about whether he would retire from the Army, which has been his entire career. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

What stupidity and a slap in the face to every soldier and their family.

I think it's laughable that he complains about the soldiers not paying for treatment. We are talking about injuries received in the course of them doing their duty defending their country. Does he pay for health care? Or anyone in his family, for that matter?

Disappointing that a president of this country would even think that way with our men in harms way.

Hi all. This is my first post as I just joined the board. My question to the OP is did you ever check to see if what you are posting is correct? I thought that the grammar of the quote did not seem quite right so I did a little searching and found this at factcheck.org
http://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/wou...-war-injuries/

It seems that these are made up quotes which are not in the records of any news organizations.

surfcast23 that is a great post. In today's world of sensationalism journalism it would not surprise me if statements are twisted to suit one's own needs. However, if those statements are 100% factual then there is a serious problem

The problem nowadays is most ordinary people don't know which way to go when voting. We voted in Bush after Clinton's scandals and to make our military stronger again. Then we vote in Obama because he's a democrat and the past republican president screwed up our economy. Now what do we have with Obama? Just a good talker as far as I'm concerned. I think he's a liability to this country on all fronts. Our political system us such a joke. Politicians have become the biggest thieves in the world now. We need real leaders...not mouthpieces propelled to the top by their political machines
Enjoy the Journey

In my opinion the major flaw with the political system is US the voter. We don't research our candidates and we let our selves be led by emotion not fact. On both the right and left l see the twisting of the facts to suit the given agenda and, we in our complacency, do not check to see if that which has been alleged is true of false.
Another problem is realism. We are a country with unrealistic expectations. We want to cut the deficit but don't want to cut programs and raise taxes. We don't want terrorism yet we support regimes that oppress their citizens. We have to learn that we cannot have it both ways. What we need is a no non-sense up front, no holds barred, leader.....alas that would never happen because the majority of Americans can't deal with the truth.

You could tell right away that the quotes were off. A president whether we agree with him or not is going to be very careful about the words they use.

Thanks for doing the checking.

Another great post. I will take some exception in the fact that the voter is responsible for the political machines being as they are. #1 many people do not have the time to do the research. I, as a father of 4 and owning my own business, have very little free time. And when I do the last thing I want to do is become a political expert. And #2 this is how the political machines want it. People with no time to really know and understand the issues. And #3 when voting nowadays most people just look for the lesser of 2 evils as they figure they are screwed anyways

By the way, IMO only, we can cut the deficit without raising taxes. I am taxed to death and have been for decades. Let's take some money out of the political machines and out of foreign countries and put it to work for the common american citizen
Enjoy the Journey
