NY fishing reports for July 2010

Good morning bite near the rockaways. 2 bass on a darter today at first light, one small runt, one 37", both released.

Picked up half a dozen cocktails on poppers this am on the north shore as the tide came in.

SS near jones 6-8, bucktail got me 2 short fluke, swimmers got nothing. Some birds and bait were working about a mile out.

Fished a ss sand beach from 5-7 today, out east. 4 short bass on a small tin. The whitebait was all over the surf line, nice morning.

I heard that there were some stripers being caught so I went out to the north shore.

While I was trying for them a school of blues came by me. Threw a few different pencils but caught nothing until my black and white one hit the water.

Ended my night with 5 blues, 4 went back one is for dinner tonight.
