    For me normally first or second week of December is my last outing.

    When the fish leave I have fished into february years past. I always fish on new years morning to try and get my first bass of the year, which has been hard to do the last 2 years with decline in smaller fish. After the Artic blast coming this week the

    I think I'm done with surf fishing for now. I wish we could get whiting like they used to get in the winter. Herring are ok, but a pain to prepare if you want to pickle them. I may take a cod trip out of montauk. They are just starting to get them up there.
