The water was freezing today. I went this morning with clams and it was about 42. No fish around, small taps on the hook which were probably flounder. The guy at the tackle shop said it got to 50 yesterday, but not this morning it was like ice!

The USGS gauge at Keansburg finally touched 50, for real, yesterday. As finchaser said the rain dropped those temps like a rock. Now they are trending up a little and should honestly (tackle shop liers be damned) be into the 50's this week. I am liking the first few days of next week. The temp will be trending up and might produce some results.

Poor kid, he could have been a John Holmes. Now he's just a little "short". Hey cardoc at least you gave it a try.

Fished the incoming yesterday. One fat short (do not know what they could have been feeding on with no bait around, this thing had a football shaped belly) 23" on sandworm.
