NMFS announces a proposed rule to implement two ICCAT shark recommendations for the conservation of oceanic whitetip and hammerhead sharks (Family Sphyrnidae, excluding bonnethead sharks). These ICCAT recommendations prohibit the retention, transshipping, landing, storing, or selling of oceanic whitetip and hammerhead sharks caught in association with ICCAT fisheries. The proposed rule could affect U.S. commercial and recreational fisheries that target tuna and/or tuna-like species.
