    Default MTK & helmets

Last year in MTK under the light i got drilled in the chest by a wave & bashed into the rocks.
Zeno was filming as my Supersurf rod had the first 2 top guides smashed. As we walked back to the parking lot to hand my rod off to Paco from Lami for repairs, I realized this situation called for a helmet. Zeno told me of a surfcaster who fished big water with a football helmet complete with facemask. No one laughs at him! later on i saw another fisherman wearing a hockey helmet. No one was laughing at him either.

If you feel you need a helmet then wear one.
    Better safe than sorry.

    Default Warm welcome to UrbanFishingMan

This is just a short intro and welcome to one of our new members - Urban Fishing Man.

I met him from an interest in fishing some of the most challenging water on the East Coast...and let me tell ya's, if anyone had dangerous waters and big fish dialed in, and what to do and not to do, it's him.....

His preparation and thinking process before he sets up to go out there, reminds me of what they do in the military before they invade a country.... I say that not to be critical, but to let you folks the level of preparation some of us go through before setting out to fish dangerous waters....

I hope I'm not embarassing him here....

But he has also saved a few people from drowning when they were not prepared and made careless mistakes resulting in them getting dumped in the water and dragged along by the current....

If someone wanted to do a video of skishing, extreme kayaking, or extreme surf fishing, they would be missing out by not including Urban Fishing Man in that video or documentary...

Again, I know I'm probably embarassing him a bit, but I think he can take it.....

He's that prepared in his skill set, and committed to safety...that I feel there are a lot out there that could learn from him.....so that's why I'm mentioning it here......

Welcome aboard, UrbanFishingMan, and feel free to come back to NJ anytime it fits in your schedule.

I look forward to coming up to the Sound this Spring and hunting for some fish at night in our yaks....
