I met these 2 builders last night...






"Went to sleep for a few hours waiting for the wind to lay down.
When I woke up, I ran into some folks who come in to the area to fish, and drive 1 1/2 hours each way, each time.

The guys were both plug makers. I took pics of some of their work and even managed to ho a plug from one.
Great to finally meet you guys, thanks so much for the plug. Hope you got some fish. "

How many guys do ya know who can still remember when phone numbers didn't have area codes, they had letters and different exchanges....Mu6, Ma9, etc...


One of the guys used to fish with Billy, (RIP) and said Billy taught him a lot of what he knows.

We were comparing notes about fishing when I found that out.
I think one of em used to live up here, now they live 1 1/2 hours away...and fish the surf hard each visit here......

One of those people is Surfstix.....

He sent me a package a few weeks ago.....
There was a mixup on where to send it to...they sent it back to him......so he sent it again.....

Inside it were 2 well made plugs.....
An awesome gesture from a friend......

What is most compelling to me,,,is that despite all the health and other problems he has had in the last 3 years, he is still able to make these great plugs and teasers....and most generous in sending them on to be tested by the jaws of death, aggressive bass and angry bluefish.....

These are the "before" pics....


the 2 above are shots of the biggest pencil I've seen in a while...this pencil I think weighs in at 4.5oz......

The teaser below is one of Surfstix's hand-made teasers.
He's been making them for awhile now and the craftsmanship really shows......
(Note the good quality epoxy heads on the teasers/tails and the heavy duty split rings......)



Some of Rip Plugger's plugs, and the ones Surfstix has sent me, are usually dressed up now with these teasers at the end.

They make a real difference in getting a fish to hit when they are sluggish or the water is colder.
