Default Man drowns in Cheesequake Creek trying to recover boat motor

Be careful out there guys. Who would have thought anyone could drown in a Creek? RIP

SAYREVILLE - State Police divers today recovered the body of a 24-year-old man who was missing after he went into Cheesequake Creek in Sayreville to recover a boat motor. The body of Paul Chrzaszcz of South Amboy was recovered around 11 a.m. about 75 yards west of the Morgan Marina in Sayreville, borough police Sgt. David Lasko said.

He said the motor was found next to Chrzaszcz’ body.

Chrzaszcz was a volunteer with fire departments in Sayreville and South Amboy, and many firefighters were at the marina, along with Chrzaszcz’ relatives, Lasko said. “There was a ton of firefighters out there,” Lasko said.

He said Chrzaszcz’ father identified his son’s body. Chrzaszcz was out boating with a friend on Sunday when a trolling motor fell off the boat. They marked the location with a magnet device, then returned on Monday to recover the motor, Lasko said.

He said Chrzaszcz went into the water wearing a wet suit, but no breathing apparatus. When he failed to surface, his friend called police about 8 p.m. Monday, the sergeant said. Borough and State Police searched the area until 11:45 p.m. Monday, then resumed the search at 7:45 a.m. today.

    That is terrible, RIP.
Seems like lots of drownings this year from swimmers to fisherman.
