Default Mid-Atlantic Fisheries Management Council Meeting in NJ, Delaware SMZ on Agenda.

October 15-18, 2012 at Ocean Place, One Ocean Blvd., Long Branch, NJ 07740

    Wednesday, October 17

10:00 - noon Delaware Special Management Zone (SMZ) Request

Review and approve options for designation of Delaware artificial reefs in the EEZ

Schedule public hearings for Delaware SMZ request

Here is an opportunity to show solidarity with our neighbor to the south in their bid to protect their artificial reefs in federal waters as they are protected in their own. A large showing of support by New Jersey for Delaware will be remembered when we apply for the same protection for our reefs. Please take the time to attend and show your support. If you cannot attend, please make an effort to write a note to the Council on this issue when it is open for public comment.

These are the types of things that many fishermen find themselves unable to attend because of work, or too busy when the meetings are more convenient.
That's understandable, but as NJDiver has pointed out, we can also participate by getting involved when they ask for public comment.

If you care and want have your voice heard, please consider doing just that, making a public comment.
Thanks for posting and keeping us in the loop, NJ Diver.

Thanks NJ diver. I won't be able to go there but will post comments when they ask for them.
