Finally into some fish. Fished a bay area last night, GSB. Blues have arrived. Picked off quite a few with small tins and 4" poppers. To 7lbs and a few small bass.

Nice, good to hear of some catching out that way. I am going to start fishing out that way in either 1 or 2 weeks. Looking forward to it.

Not my doing....you know Monty just got so dissatisfied with the loss of access in NJ he decided to broaden his horizons....

I promise no falling asleep in porto john for me.....
New York beaches are actually closer to where I live, the big bummer is the ridiculous tolls. 25 clams per trip

Well fellas the bluefish bite is really on and its crazy. Got into a mess o aggressive blues this morning 8-13 lbs. CSS by an inlet. The surf was big and they were hitting it big time. I tryed metal bucktails and plugs. Although the plugs were hard to toss it seems they wanted them most. Small plugs like sps and small bombers. Bucktails too but would not take poppers or metal. The fish were all in close so you didn't have to cast that far. Maybe because the water got cold? Great morning of fishing all on the incoming tide. Left them biting to go to work. Get out there they are here!

Fished this morning from 1:00 to 5:00 ocean side, threw all types of artificials, 1 hit in close and with my rock type reflexes, missed it.

^ I got you some of those favorite shads you like. Still haven't had a chance to give them to you....when I do, there are "special instructions" on the package.....I took a pic and will try to post when I get a chance......

It seems every time you're out there.....you're guaranteed to come back with the story of that one fish that got away....
(I did the same thing this weekend...one nice fish, bass or big weakfish, lost after a few secs.........so don't feel so bad.....you're just Monty....a fishing trip wouldn't be the same, if you didn't have that stuff happening to ya.... )

Fished gsb this morning, last of the outgoing tide. 8 bluefish to 12#. Buck and pork. No bass. Monty there is plenty of action in the bays along with a few bass. I didn't get one this morning. They are around. I would wait a week or so till the fish round the corner at breezy before spending time in the surf. my .02 and good luck.

Fished this morning 1:30-9:30 ocean side. Mini-marathon.
Missed a few fish again, then FINALLY landed my first New York fish.
Piked up 3 blues 20-25 inches on long casts, had to be over the sand bar, got them on Ava 27 red tail.
Was lots of fun, of course lost the largest one after a good fight.
    Beautiful night and morning.

    Hope you got out.

I fished this morning from 2:00 - 8:00 ocean side.
Picked up my first LI short bass on a 7" Loaded Red Fin at 3:00, missed another on next cast....
Then between 4:00 and 7:00 I picked up 8 blues. Would not hit metal. White metal lip and orange popper.....and one tore to shreds Hogy started the Blues fun.
Found some on Bunker, but only managed 1 in that melee.
    Great time.

    This had to hurt

    Fished yesterday morning from 1:30-10:00.
Water looked great, had a fun time out there.
Some how could only manage one blue fish the whole time.
It may be a PB for me as catching a fish on a biggest plug (Mikes 8 1/4 Commander)
Only saw one other guy fishing out there (in pick below)
Water was a bit stained, cleaner 12-200 yards out.
Bunker flipping here and there every once and a while.
Had a great time, nice water, awesome weather....
Next time out for me is Sunday early AM. Can't wait.

Yup so true. I have been out fishing the SS 3times in the last week and only got one blue on buck and pork. It was so much better 2 weeks ago. Even jbay sucks from the beach this year. Congrats to monty surfstix and you other dudes cause I am not doing well. We need more spearing and am hoping the spot come in early this year. that always seems to kick things up a notch.
