KEANSBURG ? The United States Coast Guard rescued two men from the Raritan Bay after the boat they were in capsized Monday morning, police said.

Fisherman on a beach called 9-1-1 at 11:56 a.m. reporting the incident to Keansburg police, Deputy Chief Michael Pigott said. The 12-foot aluminum boat started taking on water and when the men tried to go back to Keansburg Marina, the boat capsized about 300-feet from the end of the pier, he said.

The victims, who are Hazlet resident, clung to the boat until the coast guard arrived and pulled them out of the water and put them on their boat, Pigott said.
The men were in the cold water for about 30 minutes, Pigott said. The coast guard took the men to the Keyport Marina where Keyport First Aid transported them to Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel for treatment, he said.

Patrolman Nicholas Angerami is the investigating officer, Pigott said.
