    Cool

    10 inch pikies.
they came out perfect,no bumps or runs, bet the damn things swim upside down.
the three pikies I posted here are my first try at larger/adjusted pikie styles.
    I hope they swim.
I have built 2 other smaller styles that work well a few year back, these are a new design for me.

rip plugger if I could ask when you are casting those 10 inch pikies what is the rod rated at? They look pretty darn big aren't you worried about breaking the rod with a strong cast? (don't get me wrong they are nice looking plugs just thinking out loud that they are like monster plugs) . nice work btw

well, these are my first on the variation of the pikie design.
I do fish the creek chubb giant pikies too and with great effect, took many a bass/gator on them.
as for the 3 I posted those are the first very large I have made, they are spot specific and I hope they pass the swim test.

as for the rods that I throw them with.I have 4.

a tica surf uhea rated 2-6 oz@9 feet with an Omoto Hubilie 777-s3 on it,another is a quantum mocean surf stick@9 feet under rated by miles @1-4 oz but,it is actually more like 3-8 oz,that has a shimano 700-b on top of it.
then I have an okuma CSX surf that's 10feet rated @ 3-8 oz with an abu 7000ics-pro-rocket on it.
my last rig is another tice surf uhea rated 2-6 oz and 9 feet with an omoto chief 7000csm mag on it.
those rigs are more than capable of doing it with very large wood.

you know what,so many guys fish small, like with medium sized freshwater sized lures and they do catch but, when you fish large you catch better quality fish and those big swimmers actually call the fish to hunt them down.
I have proved it to myself and friends of mine so many times and still I don't get why they don't switch up and go large.
for the life of me there are times when I almost feel guilty that I am getting bit good and the other guys are all throwing pencils and doing almost nothing at all.
I have had guys that come from other places see me getting bit and after a half dozen good fish one will come over and ask what I am doing.
I show them what I am fishing with and they always say "holy crap man",,,thats a huge plug,,,then they go back to the way they were fishing and didn't catch any or just 1 fish.
I learned a long time ago,if there are adult bunkers around and bass/gators around, throw a big swimmer because they are hunting for bunkers, bunkers swim and don't tear up the surface unless they are being chased, otherwise the fish will cruise around hunting for them.
    then they hear/see my plug.
    oh yeah,thanks,,,,,,

^^^^^I was in this thread to see the plugs and the different handiwork. But your explanation of why you throw big seems to make sense when big bunker are around. thanks for sharing that very informative.

    YW Willie.
you know even when there are not many bunker around it still works as well.fish are hungry and searching then they "feel" a vibe of something swimming with them somewhere close by,,,what would said fish do?
