    Default Fishing superstitions

    There are many out there.

A hat can make or break a fishing trip. A specific hat is vital for a good fishing adventure and must be handy at all times.

I know a guy, if you fish with him, will put a hex on you so he gets the bigger fish.

    "Breaking in a new rod.

One superstition that choosing the right spot to break in a rod and reel. If it is lightweight equipement then the spot is population of properly sized fish. If it is a travel set set then it can not be used locally. Nothing you can do will ruin your chances of using a pole effectively more assuredly than improperly breaking in your rod."

My friend knows a dude who brings a rubber chicken on his boat. If he doesn't have that chicken, he says he won't catch.

I have heard that you should fish for the first time in the seeason on Good Friday and you will be lucky at fishing all year.

Having never fishind on Good Friday, maybe that's what I'm doing wrong.

Chew anise and spit on your fishing hook for good luck.

Not really superstition I guess but when I do catch a good fish I will dedicate it to a fellow fisherman who I have lost usually my grandfather who really got me into this thing called fishing. And I won't stop until they pry that rod out of my cold dead hands.

As crazy as it sounds- seems like whenever my first cast of the morning produces a hook up- I get shutout for the rest of the time at the wetline.
