    Default night crawlers

Is it too early for night crawlers to come out and catch them?

Depends on where ya live, man. Some parts near the water may have unfrozen ground. Your location says central Jersey, so you may have to wait awhile for things to warm up a bit maybe April. The rains bring a lot of nightcrawlers out. If you have a municipal leaf dump near your house, you can get them after there's a lot of rain, look near the edges of the piles.

If you're lookin to go fishin now, some guys are doing well on grubs.

You can also get them in the dirt piles down the sides of your driveway. These aren't the actual nightcrawlers, I call them snake crawlers because they squirm like snakes. They break apart easy and you need a thin hook for them. They do work and make a good scent trail in the water.
