I wanted to make sure people were able to see some of the stuff our newest member Danielle of Jrodscustomtackle is selling. She has lots of different rigs, jigs, and sweet looking lead jigs for all kinds of fishing. Her link to her web page is listed here. This way it will be open to people other than our members.

For anyone else who wants to know more, why not contact her and ask her any questions you might have?

She's friendly, answers all her e-mails, and has a very good reputation on e-bay. The prices seem very reasonable. I haven't used any of her stuff yet, but I might try to get some so I can write about it more.

Here are just a few pics of the many things she sells:

    Background and Personal Info....

Danielle from jrods comes from a long line of fishermen and fisherwomen. She's been fishing since she was 3 years old!!

She grew up with her family in Long Island, where they fished Moriches Inlet all the time. Her Dad was an avid fisherman, and made some plugs, and tied his own teasers and flies. She has great childhood memories of fishing Moriches and some Long Island back bay areas.

Then she met John, the man who was to become her husband. She found him to be as crazy about fishing as she was, and it was a match made in heaven!!

They married soon after (between fishing ) and moved to Pennsylvania where there was more work for John and the real estate prices were a little cheaper.

John got hurt and became disabled. It was tough to run their household, and bills and expenses piled up. Danielle, always the resourceful problem-solver, decided to see if she could use her love of fishing to create a business.

She started this business in her home, at first tying and creating fluke and bottom fish rigs, using the lessons she learned from her Dad when she was small.

John, who couldn't do any of the work because of his increasing disablilty, nonetheless enjoyed giving his wife advice, and it's probably this shared love of fishing that helped their marriage to survive this difficult emotional and financial time.

    Fishin!!
Danielle loves to fish when she can get out with her husband. Growing up and until she moved to Pa, her favorite places to fish were Shagwon Point at Theodore Roosevelt State Park, Hither Hills to Montauk on the South Shore, and some other spots on the North Shore.

Any woman who can fish these rocky areas deserves some respect, at least in my book!!

Her favorite fish to catch is bluefish because of the ferocious fight they put up. Her biggest bluefish was a 16lb monster!

    This girl can fish, guys!!

Default A few pics: Combination set

    just a few

Combination Set! 1-Herring Jig, 1-Fish Jig, 1- Butterfly Jig

    Business Development and Philosophy:

    Development
Danielle and her husband met a guy who sold jig molds, started making them, and got a lot of positive response from customers.

She started making these lead jigs, and worked hard to figure out the best way to paint them, what colors to use, and how to make the paint last long and not to chip off. Shes the one slaving over those melting pots to melt the lead and remove the impurities. How many women do you guys know that can handle a job like that?

Lead & Safety: She has her whole work area vented for the lead fumes, and a state of the art spray booth to spray the best and most durable finish.
"I'm a researcher" - when she gets a little info about how too improve her products, she's on it right away, always trying to deliver the best quality product possible.

    Obstacles
"Lots of Brick Walls" Danielle has run into many obstacles. Because she's a woman, many people don't believe she can handle the demands of making her products, and are sometimes short-sighted in how they view her.

Many say: " Oh come on, a woman can't make those rigs and jigs, that's BS!!"
She wins customers over by saying: "Then come to my house and watch me, & then make a judgement! "

Danielle sez: "I ignore the fact that many can't believe I'm doing a man's job, and win the respect of my customers one at a time!"

I think it's fair to say Danielle is not a typical woman, this gal is tough!!

Good job here, Danielle, and Dark. The colors look great, I honestly never knew a woman who melted her own lead, that was interesting reading.

Nicely done, I too would never believe a woman working over a hot pot of lead. (excuse the chauvinism here)

    Hello Williehookem!

Thank you about the "melting my own lead", I appreciate that. As Darkskies has stated I am not your ordinary woman. Grew up around truckers and fishermen so right from the start I was doomed at being the princess type....LOL...But I want to thank you again.

Woe to the person who teased or harassed Danielle in grade school, they would probably think twice before they did it again.

Yup, it seems that Jrods jigs do the job!

Here's a pic of a nice bluefish Monty got on 5/2/09 using a herring jig. They're good for fishing deeper waters, and current where you need to get down in the water column. If you can catch bluefish on em, you'll also get bass when the bluefish don't get to it first.

They're heavy enough that you can drag them on the bottom, where the big bass live.
