I see the holes they make all over the beach, and was wondering if anyone ever used them for bait, and how you would keep them on the hook? Thanks guys.

I used them in florida for Pompano. I would imagine they would be good for bottom fish. Croakers, Northen Kingfish, and Blackfish. Try them you never know.
In the surf the fluke love to slam them cast out drop to the bottom and use short sweeps of the rod until you feel the extra wt. then set the hook.I use to do that with the kids and wife camping on the beach broke up the summer doldrums.
deadly on redfish down here in NC. If you can find molters, they are as near a sure thing as you can get in bait dunkin.
cool video showing how he does it
how he uses them for bait
Thanks for the tips guys. I found a video talking about how to find them. He is pretty detailed and helpful.
how to fish them. now all thats left is to go out and put them on the hook to hopefully catch! I will be trying it after this weekend.
Thanks for posting very informative.
I think because these mole crabs are more mobile and adaptable that it won't affect them too much in the long run. Remember when they were doing the dredging at night there was often a spurt of activity where the dredges were. That was probably because they were sucking up all the crabs and seeding them back out there. Before they got a chance to burrow back in the sand the fish were attacking them.
