Default Stand up to fisheries management - Martha's Vineyard Demonstration 8-26-10

    Sent in by G, thanks!

This happened yesterday in Martha's Vineyard, MA. Although it's come and passed, it's not too late to send an e-mail voicing your opinion. Please do if you can, thanks.

Recreational and commercial fishermen will be demonstrating on vessels off Martha's Vineyard on August 26 to direct President Obama's and the national media's attention to the severe negative impacts of the policies and attitudes of the people in control of NOAA/NMFS on recreational and commercial fishermen and on the businesses that depend on fishing. The press release below explains what the demonstration is all about.

If you agree with the purpose of the demonstration, and if you are still committed to making federal fisheries management as fisherman-friendly as it is fish-friendly, please take the time to go to http://fs16.formsite.com/FixMagnuson...?1282743543045, fill in the on-line petition and, following the instructions at the bottom of the page, send it directly to the White House (or send your own message, if you think that more appropriate). And then please remember to go back to the petition and submit it.

This is a simple process, requiring at most 5 minutes. Taking another step to address the train wreck the federal fisheries management has been turned into is surely worth that much of your time, isn't it?

The petition will be up at least through September. Please get as many other interested people as possible to sign on. Your future on the water - and your ability to fish - depends on it.

    Thank you very much.
