^^^^No disrespect meant to the whales speedy. I wanted to call out the meat men the ones who registered on this site to troll and cause troublel. They should troll down your way instead. I don't know why dark doesn't kick them off there are only a couple bad apples who joined. They are good for nothing. my .02.
Whales are cool!
They say there are now a lot of bunker boats scooping up the bunker. I wonder if that has had an affect on the number of whales in close. Has anyone seen whales out front lately?
This could be just me thinking these crazy thoughts but I don't think whales like the dirty water out front right now. It has also gotten a little colder dropped maybe 4 degrees. I don't think they are that sensitive to the temperature though. I think it is more the dirty water that they do not like. Come to think of it that may be true for thresher sharks as well. Haven't heard marina talk of many being taken this year inshore either. By this time of the year there is usually a good number of them to be had within 1-3 miles.
Very cool thanks for posting. I have seen one between monmouth beach and sea bright.
Have seen them as well out near the Shrewsbury rocks. Feeding on bunker and rainfish or sandeels. I believe they are humpbacks but not sure.
Heard of some in sandy hook bay over the weekend. Guys were talking about them at the tackle shop.
This must be what they were talking about steve. this a pic I found. Back side of SH.
Those look like belugas. a few in in manhasset bay a week ago.
Wow thats pretty cool. I thought beluga whales were only in the pacific. Guess not. Thanks for sharing.
there was a beluga that ran up the big D a few years back.
Pay attention to what history has taught us or be prepared to relive it again
"The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine, the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research in New York and Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut have been tracking the whales since they appeared off Rhode Island around May 10, and in Long Island waters before Memorial Day, according to the Press report."
I didn't realize they were the same whales they spotted up that way. Thats pretty impressive they traveled like all that distance in less than a month.
This one made it's way from ocean city to monmouth county with appearances along the way.
