ERIE, Pa.—Mercyhurst College is letting anglers fish a key stretch of a steelhead trout stream under an agreement with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
The college, based in Erie, was given the 17-acre tract in nearby Girard Township in 2002. The land includes a long cut of Elk Creek, which is a key spawning run for the popular form of rainbow trout known as steelheads.
The college has granted the fish commission an easement guaranteeing free access to the water and a 25-foot border zone along the creek's banks. The land is undeveloped and used for field trips by a biology professor at the school.

Very nice. Wish I had an excuse to make a business trip to Pa.
