Real sweet BT John they look like they will catch FOR SURE!!....I wanna tye some up before fall gets here..Just gotta get some jig heads...I would like to get some molds soon and pour my own...Havent had the time to look into what i need..
Well you know where to get the jig heads...it's not like I haven't offered. I only have about 30 different molds to pick from.
Pouring lead is no joke, it is very dangerous when done wrong. A few drops of water can empty a 20lb pot of lead. Just search on YouTube for "lead steam explosion".
Definitely spend some time researching the safety aspect of it.
Ive seen a few of those videos..They make me double think trying it myself lol....I may take you up on the jig heads..Had to work on Tuesday of course so couild make it to the fly tying..But we'll run into each other soon im sure
I was at a friends house the other day pouring jig heads, bucktails, and diamond jigs and I caught glimpse of the ugliest bucktail I have ever seen.
I tried to get a picture of it but he quickly grabbed it and threw it in the hot lead pot destroying all the evidence. He claims to have been tying drunk one night
Let me know when you are ready; I can loan you some of the basic things you will need.
I lost your number again...too many people named " " in my phone.
Nice work dude!
What types of water do you fish the bananas in?
They look great.
White Water Monty 2.00 (WWM)
Future Long Islander (ASAP)
Thanks Monty.
The 1.5, 2, 2.5, & 3oz banana jigs with heavy duty hooks will be fished in the deep and fast moving water found in some of the rivers and inlets. I might also try trolling this style head from the kayak when moving from one spot to another.
The lighter diameter "ultra point" hook bucktails are destined to target fluke in the surf. Just add GULP
I wouldn't want to hook a large bass or bluefish on the ultra point hooks but they are perfect for fluke & weakfish.
Nice work they look so perfect like they came from a stamping machine.
The top two are chrome plated lead jigs that I purchased from a store before I started making my own (shown for comparison).
The bottom five are mine and made out of tin.
Lol, I just realized that the bottom jig is upside down in the picture. >.<
Dark...notice that I use the right size eye for the cavity!!!! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Very nice work jbarbosa. They almost have like a goldish tint to them. Have you tried any yet?
Nice work JB those diamonds came out great.
Cranky Old Bassturd.
Beautiful work JB. they look awesome.
sinking stick bait looks pretty cool
I can't believe how much of a hit these have been with friends. I have been getting asked for these a lot! First two batches all gone...
Wondering if anybody here has any interest in buying a few.
I am trying to get an idea of how much tin I need to order to get through the fall run. Trying to get bulk pricing on tin so I can reduce the asking price for these...
^^^ I don't usually endorse stuff unless I've hung some fish on them, but I have to say that JB is pretty compulsive about how he makes things.......puts a lot of detail and quality into his work.....For example his bucktails are pretty solid and should hold up well to bigger fish....tins might require less work than bucktails......but you can tell when you see em they're a quality product......
Haven't had time to fish in the last 3 weeks, and it's killing me....
When I do I hope to hang some fish on his bucktails and tins.....will come back and talk about it when I do....
