i don't know about all the dead things you are finding. There have been some dead bunker behind island beach back of the inlet. Think the water is warming up and the oxygen levels are getting low. Happens every year. What is disturbing is how do you know about pimples on a drunk guys A**? a little creepy if you ask me. just my .02.:HappyWave:

I fished yesterday and tried 4 different beaches. 2 on the ocean 2 on the bay. They were all clean and didn't even have that much trash on them let alone dead things. Maybe that means a lot of folks aren't fishing? Nice pics guys keep em coming!

Not my find. This was on the news. They found it in wildwood and said it probably got chomped by a sand tiger shark. I surf out there sometimes and you try not to think about all the sharks that are out there.

Man you guys suck! Heres what happened. I had 32 pics each one of them a different fish. Mostly blues but some stripers, sea robins dogfish and skates. It was the mother lode consisting of walks at 2 very popular beaches! Miles of dead fish. Then I dropped my cell phone in the water and lost every one. I am so mad at myself!

Possum would be OK in the hook lot.
It's highway stuff we frown about last time I checked with the judges.
I just threw the shells in as they were in the area.
One of us needs to find a dead whale or something to really get this place rocking.
Maybe Dark can find another torso and keep us in suspense for a couple months.

Found it at the entrance of the beach, not sure what was going on with it being there.
As the season progresses and I go back past this area of beach its becoming more of a mess.

Still if you want to be the dead things king I want to see at least one crazy thing like that per year! I totally get where you're coming from. Much respect for all the miles you put out to find this stuff. I had a few good years too and you don't see me bringing up my mega finds from the past. It's all about today and 2015!

Honestly this year has sucked for me. If it wasn't for all those bluefish I found in may I would be in last place. If you want the undisputed title you will have to battle for it. I will say I think you and I are the 2 best dead thing finders on the east coast! No one out there can come close. For now we'll see what happens. Waiting for a few noreasters in the fall and hoping they bring one of the gillnetters or belford pirates catches up on the shore for a dead things bonanza.:drool:

When the fish were here in (greater) numbers.....I made an effort to get out there.....in the middle of the cold months......some friends and I got a few hundred....... each Winter....while all the rest of you tough guys were tucked in your houses...:moon:....safe in your easy chair or comfy couches.....and a few of us were braving the winter winds and sub 20 degree temps....:scared:....to get some nice fish that no one thought were here.....:moon: :HappyWave:

In my estimate....NJ has dropped down the list of desirable East Coast places to fish....from being in the top 5....to much lower in the rankings......

Let's go back to those 2 Winters.....when the fish were here...and "committing suicide"...as you tough guys like to say.....:kooky: :ROFLMAO
Let's look at that......

1. It was a night bite for the bigger fish....

2. Scores of fishermen were fishing the 2 hours before dark, catching smaller fish..and then went home. A handful of us were part of the 2nd shift, every night.......starting at 12, and ending up at 4am.

3. I was missing sleep at least 5 nights a week to find those fish...... severely sabotaging business and personal relationships to be in on that bite.

4. Every night the bite was different....at times I would have to climb on and off up to 8 jetties to find them.

5. The best and biggest fish were centered around the tips of the jetties...there was a lot of areas where the fish just weren't.....

6. Eventually a lot of people heard about it....Rich Swisstack even came out one night.....I think he got a fish close to 30#...the largest fish were few and far between.....

7. There were the same guys you would see every night....Nick from Luna Lures...Sergio, and a few who will remain anonymous......you had to work your *** off if you wanted a big fish......


8. There were nights when it was brutally cold...I remember catching fish with air temps as low as 17 degrees, when it was so cold if my hands were out of the gloves for a few minutes it was painful.....had to wear layers and layers of protection on those cold nights....Let's not forget the cold Winter W/NW winds common at that time of year...

9. Hopping from rock to rock with a moving tide ain't that easy....I got wet or fell in more than once....

Yes back then, when you braved the elements, actually got out of your chair and fished, those were times of effort, fun rewards, satisfaction.

Boat fish don't count? You have to gas up the boat, get all the gear on board, having checked the marine forecast the day before, you hopefully have a plan. Then you have to go out there, cruise all over, to find some fish. Then make sure you have enough ice for the day's catch, IF you do catch. Then bring them back, clean them up, clean the boat, and the dock area.

Some more stuff last night. Dead bunker all laying in a shallow pool. You can only see one on top but there were about 10 in there, hard to tell from the pic. Also a nice size gutted striper laying on the shoreline. About 10-13 lbs when living. Yep I am awesome. Maybe you should pace yourself this year. Its like each year you find everything dead on the east coast for a few weeks then go deadless for months and then panic and head for pet cemeteries or start driving around your neighborhood looking for dead squirrels.

Its a very interesting find.
But its from a boat. And Sunday AM about 20 boats went out the inlet area I was fishing.
All well out, not interfering with me and three other guys on the shore. Then one boat came within 50 yards of us for no reason full throttle on his way out of the inlet. On behalf of inconsiderate pieces of $hit like him, boat dead stuff don't count.
Except for that guy, I had a great time fishing, me and the other 3 guys were over it in 5 minutes. But I just cannot stand inconsiderate stupid boat fisherman.
And that is not saying that all boat fisherman are inconsiderate or stupid.
It should not happen. There is no reason for it.
Either these guys don't care, are incredibly inconsiderate or have an IQ under 40.

They found a dead dolphin in Lavallette. I did a Google Search and realized it every year for some reason more dolphins wash up in Lavallette and ocean county than anywhere close to that.

hah! give the guy a break. If you live near where the commercial boats come in and out sometimes they throw that stuff out and it drifts up on shore. Have seen that in cm in the fall and spring. Imo the beaches that I fish have been pretty clean this year. Don't know why, just what I see.

Obviously looking for the dead things too. 2017 has started, so afaik the dead things race is on. I predict I will leave most of you turkeys in my dust! Meh. You dudes seem to get a lot of dead stripers, blue fish, and ground fish. You should try some trips to MA, or the cape. A few times a year dead sharks get washed up on our shores. Some really big ones, like Mister great white.

We need a fish id on this. Almost seems fake. Similar to dolphin, but only slightly. The horned extensions on top of head are really weird. Nice find, you should try to figure out what it was when alive.

Well it is real.
When I took the pic it was after an all nighter basically.
So the angle I took and the way it was laying, 5-6 feet long, is a bit deceiving.
The "horns" also had me confused.

Beach. Storminsteve visited a pet cemetery a few years ago and we suspended him from this thread for two months if I remember correctly.
On the beach, rocks, in the water (what you find fishing) is what needs to be posted. He also tried hitting a deer on the way to fishing one time I think, or he took pics of road kill. It was during one of his usual dead thing finding slumps that he experiences each year.

The title of this thread is dead things found while fishing. I found ALL of my stuff while fishing. In fact, the other night I saw a beautiful dead bunny rabbit at the hook, very bloody. I didn't take a pic of it because it was in the middle of the road and I thought the dead thing inspectors might disallow it. If anyone else saw it please chime in. You peeps should have seen all the dead bunker and trash out on the sod banks this spring. If I had a dollar for every dead bunker or bunker pieces I found could buy a new giant TV. Don't really need the TV tho would rather be fishing. I agree the moon high tides and storms bring lots of dead things up on the beach. Good luck.
