Some may be aware of the LI oyster seeding program, some may not. To get everyone up to speed, the NJ baykeeper, as I understand it, was allowed to plant "seed" oysters in the NJ/NY Bight area. They had to remove these Aug 9 because of "concerns" of people eating contaminated oysters.

In reality, it was said that the SJ oyster lobby was responsible, as it felt threatened by the future competition. That's too bad, as it seems NY doesn't have the same issues. I wonder why?






5 New Oyster Reefs!



Baykeeper is poised to build 5 new oyster reefs for a multi-partnered, 'Oyster Restoration Research Project' in New York.
