Default Challenges for the surfcaster in Jersey

What new challenges will we have this year?
    More lost beach access?
Covered rock piles from this asinine beach replenishment that really will screw up fishing in different ways.
Will the extreme cold we had this year effect the fishing?

I checked with Sandy Hook and the False Rip is open again, lets hope it stays open.

    1) Less Fish
    2) More fisherman as other species have shorter seasons
    3) Access issues
    4) Facebook liars, braggers and just plain idiots

Pay attention to what history has taught us or be prepared to relive it again

fin, you really got me depressed, because all these factors are true and really scare me. Less fish means the challenge will be to work harder (longer walks/more casts-don't know if that's possible). More fisherman- the pressure has grown tremendously since I first started. Used to be just the regulars, but now so many new faces around that it curtails my casting. Access will only get worse, and that really scares me, besides making my blood pressure go higher. The blabber mouths will contribute to access problems and once productive spots wil be overwelmed. A simple event of driving to the wetline and casting, has started to become a frustrating task.

They might as well be fishing a pond elbow to elbow.
Not for me in any way.

Well a bunch of the "new" fisherman are watchers, and don't fish until they see a fish caught.

They still have gay bathhouses? I thought they were outlawed with Mayor Guliani was elected, but what do I know don't really have any experience in them lol.
I agree that pic is not exciting. Too many opportunities for hook in finger. You should send monty down there and see if he can accidentally hook anyone.

Watchers and waiters. Bet we will have even more of that in 2014 with less good places to fish. The cell phone will be as common as the pencil popper in the spring. They should make waterproof cases so guys can carry there cell phone with their tackle bags.

Yes I could write a book. I knew Al Goldstein when he was alive and have seen the seamier side of life. Just remember a gentleman doesn't pay a lady for sex, he pays her to leave. And they are not hookers at the level I am seeing them at. They are escorts. Sex between 2 consenting adults is not illegal. The panties were merely a gift for me to remember them by.

lololol! Now that's funny right there! Back to the topic I think it will be tough. With less fish around, there will be more competition for the prime spots. When the bunker schools are close to the beaches in the spring, there will be less jetties. I think you will have 3x as much crowding and people being rude and pushing with the realization that there will be less opportunities for the snag and drop crowd to get their trophy for the tackle shop pic. I think the problems of the past will be nothing compared to what we face with the beach replenishment. Not optimistic at all.

Agree, one of my hopes is with less fish around, less people fish.
I have always been able to find areas to fish without a crowd, usually alone (1:00 AM- 7:00 AM), I am hoping I can still find that solitude.

That pic is ridiculous. Just can't understand anyone "fishing" in that type of environment.

I was there that weekend. lots of fish but lots of fishermen as well. I dont brag about it because the crowds were terrible and googs everywhere. Anyone classifying that as epic or the best fishing ever must like the smell of man a**.

I fear that what has happened to south jersey will morph into north jersey. Our south jerz beaches are flat and featureless. A lot of the jetties have been rendered uselless by the beach replenishment. The inlets can be good but not when boat traffic is high. Soon NJ will be one flat featureless coastline except for the inlets. If that solved the problem I would be onboard but as we have seen the sand eventually washes away. I like what they are trying to do up in lbi and make the seawall higher but I read that a lot of the folks living on the beach are opposing that. If you live close to the water you need to know you can't have everything. You have to think about long term protection. I don't have any answers other than to say beach fishing in nj is going to ****.
